Hanover Baptist Church Events

Monday the 19th through Thursday the 22nd, several church members worked alongside the visiting mission team on a plethora of projects around the church and parsonage:

  • Re-wired speakers in the sanctuary.
  • Ran wires for a video projector in the youth room.
  • Ran electricity for a projection screen in the sanctuary.
  • Installed wood laminate flooring in the ladies study/choir room.
  • Made repairs at the parsonage.
  • Drywalled two rooms in the basement.
  • Improved electrical wiring in the basement.
  • Installed ceiling fans in the sanctuary.
  • And the big one—We removed soundproofing from the sanctuary walls, put up new drywall and painted the sanctuary a nice fresh white.

Mission team raplacing drywall in the sanctuary

Interspersed with all this hard work, there was plenty of time to share testimonies and tales of previous missions. And the ladies from Tennessee kept us all well fed!

All the work was appreciated, but the work in the sanctuary—the new drywall and bright paint— makes Hanover Baptist seem so much livelier now. When we sing, you can really hear it!

Visiting Mission Team

From Friday, July 16th to Thursday, July 22nd, a mission team of fifty from Calvary Baptist Church in Union City, Tennessee came to support our Vacation Bible School and to help around the church. (Help around the church—there’s an understatement!) Many arrived on Friday and visited Washington, DC on Saturday. They all joined us for a delightful barbeque (thanks, Bob!) dinner on Sunday. After a week of love and hard work, they returned home on Friday the 23rd.

Church Work Day

9:00 AM—Several members took advantage of the opportunity to help at Charlotte Eller’s house with painting, carpentry repair and other odd jobs. Due to today’s dampness, outdoor painting will have to wait for a sunnier day.

Sunrise Behind Cross

7:00 AM—A group of hardy Hanvorians gathered at Wayside Park, located on the Potomac waterfront on US 301 adjacent to the Harry Nice Bridge. We were treated to a beautiful sunrise and a stirring message from Pastor Crookshank.

The sunrise was from the Lord, not the pastor. But you knew that.

Noon–3:00 PM—We collected 17 Buckets of Hope for Haiti. That evening we delivered them to the relay point in Stafford.
