Tonight we had an end-of-the-season “Once a Team—Now Competitors” scrimmage. Throughout the season, our co-ed 2011 softball team has included members from Grace Presbyterian and Hanover Baptist. This time Hanover squared off against Grace at Barnesfield Park. Hanover ended up with the fewest points, but our spirit was not defeated!

The team wrapped-up a winning season in a hard-fought second outing with Shiloh. Ward Weberg reports:
“Grace/Hanover lost a close game in the bottom of the seventh to Shiloh to end the season with 5 wins & 1 loss (if our win by forfeit is included, it is 6-1). It was a great season with several individuals learning the game for the first time—and doing very well.”
The season was fun, but far too short for many of our players. Is there going to be a church soccer team? Anyway, for a season overview, visit our dedicated 2011 softball page.
Here’s Ward’s report:
“Mountain View did not have but 5 players…so everyone’s name was put in hat and drawn out to create two teams for an ‘inter-church scrimmage.’ [It was] an enjoyable evening with a close score of 10-11.”

The team remained undefeated with a win over St. John’s Episcopal.
Ward reported from the field: “[Team] members continued with good hitting and fielding—but this game also showed displays of exceptional base running and coaching that resulted in additional scoring.”

Fifth Sunday Fellowship
Jul 31st, 2011 / Koinonia
Tonight we read and discussed Paul’s marvelous letter to the Collosians in the packed fellowship hall. We also had a cake bake-off with 15 entries. It seems there is no shortage of scripture lovers or cake lovers at Hanover.
