Starting at 3:00 Ruth and Loren Land hosted the fun at the Pavilion at Presidential Lakes. It was a chilly day, but that didn’t stop several families from enjoying the outdoor fellowship. Families explored Lake Monroe by canoe, Don caught fish, and several young brave souls took a swim, including Noah, who “accidentally” got his clothes wet. Overall it was a pleasant, relaxing day in a lovely environment.

Friday: 6:15 PM–9:30 PM

Saturday: 9:00 AM–12:15 PM

The focus of the seminar was Managing Our Finances God’s Way. The course was led by Gary Wood, a certified financial planner and registered investment advisor. Gary is in his 35th year of serving in the financial services industry; his firm is a charter member of Kingdom Advisors and also serves as a resource partner for our state convention, the SBCV.

In this interactive five-part study, we explored sound Biblical precepts of financial management and discussed practical applications of these precepts. Lesson topics included:

  • The Foundation for Sound Family Finances
  • Successfully Planning Your Spending
  • God’s Solution to Debt
  • Saving and Investing in a Challenging Economy
  • Financially Free to Answer the Call.

This course taught us to exchange the stresses of financial ownership for the freedom that awaits us as stewards of all that God has entrusted to us.

Hot Dog Roast

We enjoyed a kick-back, relax, and have-fun evening tonight. As usual, Pastor Crookshank started us of with an inspiring devotional. This time the topic was about Christians being the light and how the light (God’s truth) chases away the darkness (evil) . We cooked hot dogs and marshmallows over the campfire, and had chips, salsa, and nice cold sodas. The younger generation fellowshipped while eating then played hard until dark. Fellowshipping continued well into the night by the light of kerosene lamps and the waning campfire.

Tonight we had an end-of-the-season “Once a Team—Now Competitors” scrimmage. Throughout the season, our co-ed 2011 softball team has included members from Grace Presbyterian and Hanover Baptist. This time Hanover squared off against Grace at Barnesfield Park. Hanover ended up with the fewest points, but our spirit was not defeated!
